Bob Higgins is Vice President of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance. In this position, he manages the Baldwin County Business Incubator and helps existing businesses throughout the county find the resources they need to grow. Higgins has led companies both large and small – all the way from a one-person consulting company to managing future car programs for General Motors. He came to Baldwin County in August 2001 from General Motors’ Buick Motor Division. There he was responsible for developing future vehicles and bringing them to market. In this position, he developed the current Park Avenue and LeSabre, and the new LaCrosse. Prior to this, he was chairman of the team responsible for the $1 billion per year business and technical relationship between General Motors and its tire suppliers (Goodyear, Michelin, Continental, and Firestone). He has been president and/or an officer of several profit and non-profit organizations over the years, including an aircraft leasing firm, a typesetting company, and a web site design house. When he is not working with the Alliance, Higgins is president of Higgins and Associates, a Gulf Shores-based business that specializes in helping businesses make effective use of the Internet in marketing. He also is president of the Harbour Place Property Owners Association in Orange Beach, a member of the Baldwin County Technology Council, and chairman of the Business & Marketing Education Advisory Committee to the Alabama State Board of Education. He lives in Gulf Shores with his wife, Beth, and his youngest sons, Tim, a student at Gulf Shores High School and Mike at Faulkner State Community College. |
